Neighbourhood Plan

Following on from the public consultation on the draft Elstree and Borehamwood, the comments received from the general public and statutory bodies were carefully considered by the Steering Group and the Town Council. We amended the Plan in light of some of the feedback to improve our policies and have now submitted the Neighbourhood Plan and supporting documents to Hertsmere Borough Council.

The Borough Council will be conducting a second consultation on the documents and we will provide details of that on this website in due course.  This second consultation will last approximately six weeks and will give you an opportunity to comment on the amended version of the Plan.

Once the consultation has ended, the Neighbourhood Plan will be subject to an examination. This will be conducted by an external examiner appointed by Hertsmere Borough Council, but with input from the Town Council. Their role is to check that the Plan meets the legalities. Assuming the examination is successful, there may be some final modifications to make to the document before it then goes to a public referendum later this year.  Everyone living in our area who is on the electoral role will be invited to vote as you would in any other local election. The vote will be to accept the Plan, which would mean that it would become part of the legal development plan framework for Hertsmere, sitting alongside the Local Plan. Its policies would be used to determine planning applications and how land is used locally.
